Part of syringes
Disposable syringe
Disposable syringe are being used by doctor to inject medicine through intravenous or intramuscular way for the treatment of disease and also by research and development personnel.
Disposable syringe are made of plastic material and are used in the field of medical and veterinary science.due to their availabity in sterilized condition, ready to use,and cost effectiveness, disposable syringe are fast replacing the age old glass syringes moreover, the fear of AIDS worldwide has almost dispensed with the re use of syringes and the demand of disposable syringe has increased phenomenally.disposable syringes are mostly injection moulded, from polypropylene.syringes are available in sizes of 1ml ,2ml,5ml,and 10ml,50ml in a variety of designs and consist of either two or three components construction.
Glasses syringes
Having a glass syringes is very useful and good maintenance is vital so contaminants don't either build up or intermingle between samples.
Using the glass syringes
.. prime the syringe approximately 10 times with the same.liquid used for the application.
... For the best accuracy, the volume should be greather than 10%of the syringe maximum volume.
.... To prevent cross- contamination and carryover, rinse the syringe 10-20 time with solvent and don't forget to put the first 2-3 rinsing steps into waste.
... Do not force the plunger, and do not repeatedly move the plunger while the syringe is dry or if the needle is clogged.
... For the syringe with plunger seals,it is especialy important to minimize the movement of the plunger while the syringe is dry.this can cause abrasion of the seal material and will shorten the life time of the syringe.
..... Check the syringe for any cuts or cracks and whether the tip of the syringe needs shows any damage such as a barrer which cause damage to septa, these pariticles can clog the tip or can enter the chromatography or clumn and can influence your results.
Temperature ranges and
Autoclaving syringes
The temperature rang for standared ils syringes is up to 150 'c exposure to high temperature should be limited as follows :-
... 150 'c for 15 minutes
.... 120'c for 30 minute.
... 110'c for 60 minutes.
